The Board of Directors recognises the value and importance of all volunteers within the organisation.

Members of the local community initiated the project and it is their hard work, which enables the organisation not only to continue, but also to thrive and be seen as a model of good practice throughout the Coalfield area.

The most obvious involvement of volunteers within the project is the Board of Directors. The members of the Board of Directors not only manage the work on a formal basis but also make an ongoing contribution to the day-to-day running of the project.

There are many individuals who are not members of the management but who do an enormous amount of work in and for the project. Each person's work is welcomed and valued equally, whatever their status.

Volunteers are involved in all areas of work including development work, administration, accounting, youth work, homework club, supporting individuals, Wearside First Credit Union, representing the project in public, attending networking meetings/conferences and raising the profile of the organisation.

As a volunteer you will be part of an enthusiastic, energetic and committed team.

You will be working to develop and provide a wide range of community resources and initiatives within the Coalfield area.

Whatever your motivation for volunteering - whether it is a stepping stone to training, employment, a desire to help, a need for social contact or whatever, we hope to find the right 'job' for you.

As a volunteer you have an important role to play within the organisation, you will be part of a team and most importantly - YOU ARE VALUED.
